This is a question we get asked nearly every day, so at last here is a brief explanation of what we do with all your junk. Obviously reducing the amount of waste to landfill is of utmost importance to us, so with this in mind we will attempt to reuse,recycle or donate items where possible. We have listed items below to give you a brief idea of what happens to your junk once we take it away.
Timber
All timber offcuts,unused wood or old wooden furniture will be separated and then
delivered into a waste wood recycling centre.Here it will be further separated
and recycled accordingly
Metals
Again very simple all metals will be separated and delivered into a scrap metals
processing centre.
Paper & Cardboard
All waste paper and cardboard packaging is 100% recyclable so we just separate the
lot and once again send it to a waste paper recycling facility.
Textiles
All clothing, linens, towels, bedding, shoes and handbags will be separated by us
bagged and donated to any one of a number of charities (Oxfam, Salvation Army,
North West Air Ambulance).
Furniture
Any furniture which can be reused and meets current fire regulations (upholstered
furniture) will be once again donated to charity where it will be sold to raise money
for a particular cause.
Electrical Goods
Any electrical goods which can be reused will again be donated to charity they will be
tested and then sold on to raise money. Any electrical goods which have reached the end
of their useful life will either recycled for spare parts or stripped down to their
base components and recycled.
Bricks & Concrete
All rubble, brick and concrete if it is clean (nothing else mixed in with it) will be
sent to aggragate recycling where it will be sorted, split and recycled appropriately.
Green Waste
Trees, hedges cuttings etc. Once we have separated them are 100% recyclable.
There really isn’t much we can’t find a home for.
All the recycling centres and waste transfer stations we use are licensed by the environment agency and as such have a duty of care to dispose of all waste in the most environmentally friendly and responsible manner.
